Open Source Health Data Repository Launched


April 27, 2012 | A project based in Kansas City, Missouri, aims to create the world's largest pool of open data about health and genomics. Data is anonomyzed and data doners must undergo a detailed informed consent process. The project received ethics approval on Monday, and data could be added to the database by May. The data themselves will come from a variety of sources including direct-to-consumer genomic testing, lab tests, and devices such as a "FitBit" that collects data on people's daily habits. Nature
