PROTEIN POWERHOUSE
GE Healthcare will acquire Biacore International AB and initiate a tender offer to acquire the outstanding shares of Biacore for about $390 million on a fully diluted basis, net of Biacore cash and equivalents. Biacore’s Board of Directors unanimously recommended the offer. The combination creates a broad offering of protein research tools.

CLOSING THE DEAL
BioImagene closed its acquisition of TissueInformatics, a business unit of Clinical Data Inc. TissueInformatics develops and applies automated pathology software for quantitative analysis of tissue changes in drug discovery, disease assessment, toxicology, and tissue engineering research.

FINANCING COMPLETED
Elusys Therapeutics has completed a $23 million Series D venture financing and plans to accelerate development of MRSA and HIV drugs. Investor MedImmune Ventures joined Essex Woodlands Health Ventures LLC, Crescendo Ventures, and Invesco Private Capital.

CLINPHONE LONDON IPO
ClinPhone completed its IPO on the London Stock Exchange, raising a total of about $103.6 million, net of expenses. The company will have a market capitalization of about $173.1 million on listing.
