April 14, 2006 | Acacia Research Corporation announced that its CombiMatrix group has launched the ElectraSense Influenza Typing System based on CombiMatrix’s proprietary electrochemical detection technology and its Influenza A Typing Microarray, which can identify all strains of influenza A, including the pathogenic H5N1 strain that has an approximate 50 percent mortality rate. The platform is a simple, compact system eliminating the complexity, delicate lasers, and fluorescent dyes common with existing systems. CombiMatrix will seek FDA approval for this product.
