March 14, 2006 | Apple announced the iMac, a new computer that features the Mac OS X running on Intel Core Duo processors. The systems come standard with 512 MB of memory (expandable to 2 GB) and a hard-drive storage capacity of up to 500 GB. The iMac has built-in 10/100/1000 Base-T Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR (Enhanced Data Rate), AirPort Extreme for wireless networking, five USB ports, and two FireWire 400 ports. The iMac includes technology called Rosetta that lets users run most Mac OS X PowerPC applications seamlessly.
