What is the history of your organization’s involvement in life sciences?
Bassett: Rosetta Inpharmatics was founded in December 1996. In July 2001, following an acquisition by Merck & Co., Inc., Rosetta Biosoftware was formed as a separate business unit with the charter to continue the development of world-class bioinformatics software solutions for drug discovery.
What is your vision for the development of the life sciences market?
Bassett: Rosetta Biosoftware is motivated by the goal to improve the drug discovery process by providing cutting-edge bioinformatics tools for data analysis. In so doing, we hope to have a positive effect on the speed with which drugs are discovered, as well as the cost of development.
What organizational assets have you developed to serve this community?
Bassett: Rosetta Biosoftware’s flagship product, the Rosetta Resolver™ Gene Expression Data Analysis System, is a leading bioinformatics tool for analyzing gene expression data. This system has empowered the gene expression research efforts of some of the world’s leading life sciences corporations and academic institutions, including Aventis Pharmaceuticals, Bristol-Myers Squibb, GlaxoSmithKline, Harvard University, and Merck.
What products and services does your company provide to the life sciences market?
Bassett: Our current offerings address the gene expression research needs of the life sciences market. The Rosetta Resolver system, in particular, is viewed as a powerful tool by leading entities in the life sciences market because of its flexible and robust analysis and data management capabilities.
What new products and services do you have in development?
Bassett: Our future focus will be in the area of proteomics. It is Rosetta Biosoftware’s goal to deliver a protein expression data analysis solution that is of the same caliber as the Rosetta Resolver system, and that can, in the future, integrate with the Rosetta Resolver system.
