Unifying the Drug Discovery Process
What is the history of your organization’s involvement in the life sciences?
Holt: ACERO is a new company formed from Secant Technologies (best known for its model-driven enterprise infrastructure software) and the informatics software development team that initiated the development of the Genomics Knowledge Platform (GKP) at Incyte Genomics. ACERO has been involved in the life sciences market since early 2000, when it entered into a partnership with Incyte on the development of the GKP. In July 2001, the two companies announced a strategic partnership to further develop and market the GKP, an agreement that also gave ACERO exclusive licensing rights and full development responsibility.
What is your vision for the development of the life sciences market?
Holt: ACERO’s vision is to enable organizations to unify their drug discovery process. We believe that the drug discovery process can be accelerated significantly by enabling organizations to collaborate on and perform high-throughput hypothesis-driven research across multiple scientific domains.
What organizational assets have you developed to serve this community?
Holt: ACERO provides a whole-product solution for unifying the drug discovery process. ACERO’s software includes an enterprise knowledge discovery software platform, development tools, and parallel processing software. ACERO has a services organization with experienced software and biology domain professionals and a senior management team with experience from large technology and science organizations including IBM, Accenture, Computer Associates, Incyte Genomics, and Stanford University.
What products and services does your company provide to the life sciences?
Holt: ACERO’s Genomics Knowledge Platform (GKP) is a comprehensive software platform that can enable scientists and researchers to collaborate on and perform high-throughput hypothesis-driven research across multiple scientific domains. ACERO offers other software for developing new applications for the GKP and for enabling the platform with parallel processing capabilities.
ACERO provides a number of services such as computational biology consulting, systems planning, installation and implementation, and training.
