July 15, 2003 | As required by Small Business Innovation Research provisions, 3rd Millennium will bring the informatics technology developed for Sheila Peel's lab to a broader market.

"Our initial commercialization strategy has two thrusts," says Jack Pollard of 3rd Millennium. "The first thrust is to pursue partnerships and alliances with current established microarray informatics vendors. We believe that this licensing/OEM (original equipment manufacturer) approach is most appropriate in light of the dynamics of this industry."

"Though not the main focus of our strategy, 3rd Millennium will also gain market penetration of the technology through custom systems as part of our bioinformatics consulting activities," he says.

The database, LIMS, and analysis pipeline technology are available for either OEMs or use in consulting engagements.
