CCHIT Announces Additional Certified Products

The list of certified ambulatory health records systems grew on Monday, as the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology (CCHIT) announced two additional products have met all testing criteria. Two products given preliminary certification two weeks ago are now commercially available, and thus fully certified, the commission added.

The news comes just before the second quarterly testing application period opens Tuesday. Vendors wishing to submit their products for testing against the 2006 ambulatory certification criteria have until Aug. 14 to do so or they must wait until November.

Additionally, CCHIT, a private organization supported by a federal contract, said that it is taking public comments through Aug.25 on its proposed 2007 ambulatory EHR criteria, 2007 inpatient functionality environmental scan, and 2007 interoperability and security standards. Information is available here.

The latest products to meet certification standards are iMedica Patient Relationship Manager from iMedica (Santa Clara, Calif.) and Praxis EMR Version 3.4 from Infor-Med (Woodland Hills, Calif.), according to the commission. Earning full certification after earlier gaining pre-market certification status are Medical Practice Management (MPM) Client/Server 5.5 Service Release 2.1 from LSS Data Systems and MEDENT 16 from Community Computer Service.

They join the 18 other EHR products meeting 2006 criteria that the commission announced July 18. (See http://tmlr.net/jump/?c=21564&a=296&m=3939&p=0&t=164.)
