Life Technologies Puts $10 Million on Venter's Startup



June 9, 2010 | Life Technologies' has invested $10 million in J. Craig Venter's new startup, Synthetic Genomics. The investment is $10 million out of an equity financing that could be worth as much as $50 million. Venter's new venture seeks to use synthetic biology to create or modify cells or genomes of different organisms and apply the technology to clean energy, clean water, food production and vaccines. San Diego Union-Tribune
