June 9, 2010 | Life Technologies' has invested $10 million in J. Craig Venter's new startup, Synthetic Genomics. The investment is $10 million out of an equity financing that could be worth as much as $50 million. Venter's new venture seeks to use synthetic biology to create or modify cells or genomes of different organisms and apply the technology to clean energy, clean water, food production and vaccines.
