Clinical Genomics for Leukemia Patients

March 15, 2012 | Two studies published in the New England Journal of Medicine explore genetic profiling's role in the treatment of AML, acute mylogenous leukemia. A group at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center analyzed bone marrow samples from patients for 18 genes associated with the disease and was able to group 60% of the patients clearly by survival chances. A second study from Washington University in St. Louis found links to mutations that preceed the cancer. Reuters
