APPLE SWITCHES
Apple announces plans to switch from PowerPC to Intel processors in its Macintosh computers. The first Intel-based systems will be available this time next year, and all Macs will use the Intel processors by the end of 2007.

WEB INFORMATICS
Tripos will adopt a Web-services architecture, dubbed Service-Oriented Informatics (SOI), as a part of its Discovery Informatics software architecture. Tripos says SOI will make it easier for customers to develop, deploy, and access informatics applications.

ADME/TOX PARTNERS
Systems biology software vendor GeneGo has integrated Accelrys’ Accord chemistry engine with MetaDrug, GeneGo’s ADME/Tox and medicinal chemistry platform. The combination will enhance the data visualization and searching capabilities of MetaDrug.

PROTEIN ANALYSIS
Rosetta Biosoftware announces the Rosetta Elucidator protein expression data analysis system. The Elucidator’s features include data management, LC/MS data processing analysis, protein identification, and peptide and protein level analysis.
