The Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics at the University of Oxford has installed SANmelody, storage management software from DataCore Software, to help meet ever-growing storage capacity demands. DataCore says the software turns low-cost SATA-IDE storage into a high-performance storage system.

The Windber Research Institute (WRI) has licensed workflow-based informatics technology from InforSense to use in its systems biology research. WRI will use InforSense’s Open Discovery Workflow technology to integrate a wide variety of algorithms, data, data sources, and analysis tools.
The Blueprint Initiative Asia Pte. Ltd. introduced its Directed-Curation Services offering biomolecular interaction data to life sciences organizations. Blueprint says the services will help scientists identify important biological molecules and complexes, such as drug targets and diagnostic biomarkers.
Thermo Electron has acquired Kendro Laboratory Products. Thermo says the acquisition will allow it to expand its existing focus on experiment analysis to include lab sample preparations.
