Compugen has signed a systems biology deal with Novartis to generate information about biological networks from microarray and other biological data. Novartis retains rights to project results, while Compugen keeps rights to the platform. “We chose Compugen for their proven capabilities in predictive modeling, which yielded impressive results in our previous collaborative efforts,” says Dalia Cohen, Novartis’ Global Head of Functional Genomics.

Scott Kahn, former CSO at Accelrys, has joined Illumina as VP and CIO for scientific software and information technologies. “Kahn brings a wealth of experience in software development, systems integration, as well as an understanding of application requirements in both the academic world and private industry,” says Jay Flatley, Illumina CEO.

Informatics and IT consulting firm The BioTeam has struck a deal with informatics infrastructure supplier InforSense to integrate their respective products. The BioTeam’s iNquiry informatics suite and clustering tool will be offered in InforSense’s KDE workflow analytics platform, creating a grid computing environment for bioinformatics research and analysis.
