Sept 15, 2005 | Dell has announced two new PowerEdge dual-core servers. The PowerEdge 830 is a tower server aimed at workgroups or remote offices; the PowerEdge 850 is a 1U rack-mounted server for data centers. Using dual-core processors, these servers deliver up to 62 percent and 79 percent greater performance, respectively, over the single-core versions of these systems. Both servers can support up to 8 GB of memory and can be configured with optional SATA or SCSI hard disk drives. Both systems can also be delivered with bundled software that includes the LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP/Perl) stack.
