PerkinElmer has acquired the assets of Spectral Genomics, whose array products and analysis software help researchers identify chromosomal abnormalities related to the study of cancer and pre- and postnatal genetic disorders. Their Array CGH technology provides a high-resolution global view of the human genome to  identify the location of chromosomal deletions and amplifications that increase genetic disease risk.

BioNanomatrix LLC, developer of a nanoscale whole genome imaging and analytic platform, announced receipt of a two-year grant from the National Cancer Institute and new seed financing from two venture investors. Ben Franklin Technology Partners has made a seed investment, and 21Ventures is providing bridge financing until Series A financing closes later this year.

deCODE Genetics and Illumina formed a strategic alliance to co-develop and commercialize DNA-based diagnostic tests in several major disease areas. The alliance will employ Illumina’s platform for high-multiplex SNP genotyping to develop tests for gene variants deCODE has shown to have impact on major public-health risks.
