EUREKA!
Aureus Pharma and ChemAxon have been awarded a European Eureka project along with Sanofi-Aventis and Budapest University of Technology and Economics. The goal of the project is to build a knowledge base, KnowTox, for hepatotoxicity and related predictive tools.

PE IN RUSSIA
PerkinElmer has signed an agreement with the Russian Ministry of Health that will make PE the principal supplier of neonatal screening technology for the 1.5 million babies born in Russia each year. With early intervention using simple and inexpensive treatments, progression of many inherited disorders identified through newborn screening can be delayed or even stopped.

NANOBIOTECH
The Johns Hopkins University launched its new Institute for NanoBioTechnology. With more than 75 faculty members from engineering, biology, medicine, and public health, the institute will strive for major advances in medicine by developing diagnostic tools and treatments based on interdisciplinary research conducted at the atomic or molecular level. It will encourage movement of campus breakthroughs into the private sector for further development and marketing.
