Text Mining Agreement
Pfizer has extended its agreement with Linguamatics to use the company’s I2E knowledge discovery platform for text mining across the Pfizer R&D organization. Pfizer hopes to identify and extract key facts and relationships from internal and external literature sources to support decision making. No financial details were disclosed.

Site for Biomed Experts
BioMedExperts.com is a social networking site dedicated to promoting global collaborative medical research and development. The site includes 1.4 million biomedical experts from 137 countries with 21 million pre-established network connections. The site also provides the ability to analyze network connections and view publications from sources such as PUBMed, MEDLINE, and others. The site was developed by Dell and Collexis.

New HTS Released
Panasonic and Kalypsys, a San Diego-based pharmaceutical company, have established a commercialization agreement for a next-generation high throughput screening system slated to debut this month. The Panasonic companies will provide sales, marketing, and maintenance for the systems. Kalypsys will furnish application solutions based on its evaluation. Kalypsys will also receive royalties on product sales.

North American Expansion
Affymetrix has extended its year-old Collaborations in Cancer Research Program to 25 researchers in North America. The program was initially limited to European researchers and focuses on using Affymetrix products including the SNP 6.0 and Human Exon 1.0 ST arrays to research more than 10 types of cancer. The company expects data from the program this summer or early fall.
