April 30, 2009 | Bio-IT World announced the winners of its annual Best of Show competition, held Tuesday evening at the Bio-IT World Conference & Expo. The winning products include Aspera’s Enterprise Server; CLC Bio’s Genomics Server; MaxisIT’s CT Renaissance; and Rescentris’ Collaborative Electronic Research Framework.
Judged by a team of Bio-IT World editors and highly regarded industry experts, the Best of Show Awards recognize products released or updated in the past 12 months that demonstrate exceptional technology innovations across the life sciences research, discovery, and clinical trials industries.
"Each year our exhibitors present the tools and solutions that are critical to driving the drug discovery and clinical industries forward," said Allison Proffitt, managing editor of Bio-IT World magazine. "There is a wealth of cutting edge and smart technologies for our judges to choose from, and we congratulate the 2009 Best of Show winners, and look forward to seeing how these new products enable and transform the industry."
The competition included entries from thirty two companies, all of which were exhibiting at the Expo, in four categories: IT Infrastructure Informatics Tools & Data, Clinical Trials & Research, and Knowledge Management.
Finalists in the Informatics Tools & Data category included CLC Bio, Sophic Systems Alliance, and BioWisdom. Finalists in the IT Infrastructure category included Ocarina Networks, Isilon Systems, and Aspera Inc. Finalists in the Knowledge Management category included IO Informatics, Rescentris, Inc., and Accelrys Software Inc. The Clinical Trials & Research category finalists were Phase Forward, MaxisIT, and IMC.
In the weeks before the event, a panel of screening judges narrowed the 32 entries down to three finalists in each category and those companies presented their solutions to judges on site on Tuesday, April 28.
