Chemical Computing Group (CCG) and BioSolveIT have introduced a graphical interface to BioSolveIT's high speed/high precision docking program FlexX within CCG's life science modeling software MOE. While the two software programs constitute independent executables, the integration will appear seamless to end users: MOE's strengths on the preparation and analysis side for ligands and proteins plus its variety of intermolecular interaction energy computations and informatics applications can be used directly before and after FlexX docking calculations. Both companies believe that multiple computational techniques and strategies will be required to address what is known in the community as the "scoring problem" — the prediction of binding affinity from docked structures. InforSense Ltd has entered into a partnership agreement with Linguamatics, a provider of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and its use in text search and mining.  Under the agreement, InforSense will provide access to Linguamatics I2E (Interactive Information Extraction) software tools from InforSense's text analytics platform, InforSense TextSense, to provide a single, flexible and accessible environment for constructing tailored, high performance text analytics applications. Linguamatics has also joined the InforSense Open Workflow Partner Network as the 25th member. Read the press release.

Tripos Inc. announced plans to support a robust open-source workflow platform developed by researchers at the University of Konstanz, Germany. A preview version of the Tripos Chemistry Extensions package for the KNIME open-source workflow platform is being made available today via download from the Tripos corporate Web site at http://www.tripos.com/knime.  The KNIME platform, developed by Prof. Michael R. Berthold and his colleagues at the University of Konstanz, will enable Tripos' customers to visually create and execute scientific workflows based upon a combination of Tripos and third-party discovery informatics products. The Tripos Chemistry Extensions package introduces "chemical intelligence" to the highly extensible KNIME platform, providing researchers with chemical structure manipulation, visualization, and other important analysis features.
