Biotech Sales Surge 20% to $94bn in 2007
EvaluatePharma®, which tracks and forecasts more than 500 companies and over 15,000 products from early-stage R&D through post-marketing, calculates that worldwide pharmaceuticals sales from biotechnology products increased 20%, to $94bn, in 2007. In comparison, sales from products derived through conventional technology rose 7%, to $391bn.
Biotech Predicted to Capture 21% of the World Market by 2012
EvaluatePharma®’s consensus product forecasts show biotechnology products capturing 21% of the world pharmaceutical market by 2012, versus its current share of 15.7% in 2007.
