Red Chess Large14th Annual

Enhanced R&D Productivity, Forecasting and Planning

Dear Colleague:

I am pleased to announce production of CHI’s and the BioPharma Strategy Series’ Fourteenth Annual Strategic Resource Management executive forum being held November 2-3, 2016 at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel in Philadelphia, PA.

We are looking for new case studies from pharma, biotech, medical device, governmental institutions and sister industries (energy, IT, defense, consumer, telecom). Companies with mature and immature portfolios and with varying approaches and systems for resource management are encouraged to share specific lessons with this enthusiastic community.

If you are interested in presenting, please submit a speaking proposal for review here. We are looking for case study-based presentations.

Deadline for submissions is April 15, 2016.

Please note that priority for submissions will be given to those from within large and small pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device companies, as well as those with pertinent case studies from major oil & gas, defense, aerospace, IT, and telecom companies. Additionally, as per CHI policy, a select number of vendors/consultants who provide products and services to these biopharmaceutical companies are offered opportunities for podium presentation slots based on a variety of Corporate Sponsorships.

Each year the Strategic Resource Management conference attracts over 100 participants who help lead their organization’s resource management strategy. Our 2016 meeting will build on last year's successful event with novel case studies and perspectives from thought leaders. Key issues to be addressed include:

  • Capacity planning in a resource-constrained environment
  • Understanding the impact of partnerships and co-development deals on resource management
  • Aligning portfolio & productivity with corporate strategy to drive strategic resource allocation
  • What works best when incorporating a globalized workforce into capacity management: Off-shoring, in-sourcing, in-out licensing and risk-sharing
  • Approaches for forecasting resource demand and understanding nominal demand or slippage or technical risk that impact resource needs
  • What models do we use when certain resource specialties are scarce?
  • The importance of realistic planning as a foundational element of an enterprise planning and resource management framework
  • Transforming R&D through innovative resourcing models
  • Adaptive outsourcing modalities for improved resource management, development and downstream clin ops
  • Moving beyond spreadsheets to a holistic approach to capacity planning and performance tracking
  • Enabling strategic and tactical decision-making through effective resource management
  • Resource management as an organizational leader in the project management process
  • Creative resource and project management methods for resourcing projects in small versus large organizations
  • Intelligent outsourcing and external innovation: How can industry effectively choose which functions are no longer crucial to its innovation and productivity (whether in discovery or development) and how can it align resources to maximize innovation
  • Translating lessons learned from other industries and government: What can pharma learn from and what can they teach other industries/institutions?
  • Mon-Tues Pre-Conference Certification Course: Project Portfolio Management Certification Masterclass

Again this year, we will be running the meeting back to back with the 11th annual meeting focused on Portfolio Management, which takes place November 3-4, 2016, creating a three-day event (Nov. 2-4) covering the topics most important to you. There is also a Monday-Tuesday Project Portfolio Management Certification Master Class this year, which gives attendees a five-day event option (see map below).
