Agilent Technologies acquired privately held SynPro, manufacturer of short synthetic DNA and RNA molecules, which are becoming more important as components of drugs for use in clinical trials. The acquisition will enable Agilent to offer an array of value-added services, including development of analytical methods, stability studies, quality control, and regulatory support.

The Multiple Myeloma Research Consortium selected LabVantage Solutions to serve as its preferred biobanking partner. LabVantage has implemented its Sapphire BioBanking Solution to support the collection, banking, and tracking of biospecimens through the MMRC Tissue Bank and related data generated by MMRC research and discovery efforts.

Molecular Devices acquired the laser capture microdissection (LCM) related business of Arcturus Bioscience for $10 million in cash, expanding its life sciences product portfolio to include complete systems and reagents for LCM, which is an important sample preparation technology for genomic and protein analysis. The combination of the companies’ products helps create complete microgenomics platforms.
