Dec 2005 / Jan 2006 | Genomics Solutions’ plate arraying technology allows the production of DNA and protein microarrays in 96- and 384-well microplate formats and can print more than 1,000 features within an individual well in a 96-well microplate. This multiplexed approach, the company says, gives researchers the ability to drive microarray production into new application areas, such as microELISAs, diagnostic arrays, and other protein-protein studies in a higher-throughput format to that previously available. Using BioRobotics’ MicroGrid II, which has the capacity to hold 16 microplates, allows researchers to improve assay production by a factor of 50 compared to standard slide production methods. The software enables the user to visualize and define the array layout before the start of the printing run, and its proprietary Soft Touch feature allows printing onto the surface of the well, useful when arraying onto a coated surface.
