Creative Biogene Makes a Big Move in Gene Expression Studies

March 10, 2015

SHIRLEY, NY - Mar 10, 2015 - Although Creative Biogene has already launched a great number of researches on gene expression, recently this biotechnology company is partering with another company in the industry, aiming to make a big step forward in gene expression studies.

“In order to achieve a better result, we invested US $3.5 million for research team and additional equipment facilities,” said Hannah Cole, the biotech company’s senior director of gene expression. “...as we know the overexpression of proteins is extremely important in a various application processes, such as the function of the gene study, as well as in functional assays and screens. However, it can also be a challenge as it needs a lot of experience and expertise of cell culture. But scientists has gained years of experience in gene studies, and we made it,” he added.

Mammalian cells have advantages in post-translational modification and protein folding. They are vital in the production of eukaryotic proteins, for instance antibodies, recombinant proteins, and so on. On the plus side, stable cell lines overexpressing specific proteins have integrated GOI in the genome and are costly and vital assets for life science research. Methods of generation stable cell lines are available and can overexpress virtually any protein now due to hardworks of scientists at Creative Biogene. What’s more, construction of target genes into a suitable mammalian expression vector or a lentiviral vector is followed by producing high titer lentivirus. In addition, transfection or transduction on target cells can be performed.

“Gene expression is the process where information of a gene is carried out in the synthesis of a functional gene product. We would like to evaluate the gene expression in stable cell clones through assays such as Western Blot, ELISA, real-time PCR, or reporter assays so as to get to know more about gene expression and human beings, namely ourselves’ development. In future, studies on human beings’ genes will definitely benefit us for generations.”

The joint venture brought both companies into a broader research stage, and they will continue to achieve more and cure more gene-oriented diseases. So far, Creative Biogene has expanded its gene expression projects and optimized techniques and tools, including Reporter gene, Northern blot, Fluorescent in situ hybridization, DNA microarray, RNA-Seq,and so on.
