CRO Celebrates Milestone with Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

Rho, a full-service contract research organization (CRO) focused on bringing new products to market through a full range of product development services, announced today the official opening of its new 159,000-square-foot headquarters building in Research Triangle Park (RTP), North Carolina.

The CRO celebrated its new building, located at the intersection of TW Alexander and Highway 54, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, April 25. Congressman David Price, Senator Floyd B. McKissick, Jr., Senator Mike Woodard, Representative Zack Hawkins, Dr. John Hardin, Executive Director of the Office of Science, Technology & Innovation at the Department of Commerce, Karissa Grasty, Associate Dean for Advancement at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, and Rho employees joined CEOs Laura Helms Reece and Russ Helms to celebrate this milestone in the company’s 35-year history. Guests enjoyed a breakfast buffet as well as a performance from Lowe’s Grove Middle School’s drum line, dancers and chorus. Rho has partnered with Lowe’s Grove to mentor students on their science fair projects.

“What a great day to celebrate a new milestone in our company’s history,” said Laura Helms Reece, DrPH, chief executive officer for Rho. “Our new building reflects Rho’s values and how important our team is to our success. We wanted to provide an environmentally responsible work environment where our employees could thrive. This new building stands as a testament to our commitment to the Triangle, where we have operated for over three decades. Today, we saw that come to fruition and we couldn’t be prouder.”

Rho’s new headquarters is 50 percent larger than the company’s previous location, allowing plenty of space for continued expansion. Rho included several green and wellness features in the new building to benefit employees such as increased natural light and views, maximized indoor air quality, walking trails, energy efficiency and building life-cycle impact reduction. Additionally, two entrances will help reduce parking lot congestion as people come and go. Taking a unique green approach, the building recycled the trees that were removed from the site, repurposing them to create countertops in breakroom areas and feature artwork on each level.

The company worked with The Keith Corporation based in Charlotte, North Carolina, to develop the new headquarters.
