Bio-Rad Picks Up GnuBIO, Droplet-Based Sequencing

April 11, 2014

April 11, 2014 | Bio-Rad has acquired GnuBIO, a next-generation droplet-based DNA sequencing technology. The acquisition will establish a Bio-Rad research and development site in Cambridge, Mass. GnuBIO's DNA sequencing solution integrates the entire sample preparation workflow on a chip, from sample capture, PCR, and sequencing, to informatics, the company says. The goal is a simple, “Sample In, Answer Out” workflow to deliver results in hours. GnuBIO presented their technology at last October's Consumer Genetics Conference. Financial details were not disclosed. In October 2012, GnuBIO secured $10 million in funding, and the company co-founder spoke to Bio-IT World about the technology. Bio-Rad and GnuBIO Press Release
