Oracle Announces AWS Competitor

October 1, 2012 | In an OpenWorld talk on Sunday, Oracle CEO Larry Ellison introduced a new Infrastructure-as-a-Service offering and listed Amazon Web Services as its primary competitor. To go head to head with the Amazon Cloud, Oracle will rely on infrastructure that "isn't plain old commodity infrastructure." He did not give any pricing information or an availability date.
