LA Billionaire Works to Speed Personalized Medicine

October 3, 2012 | Patrick Soon-Shiong, former UCLA surgeon and drug-company exec, has reached an agreement with Blue Shield of California to create a "continuous learning center" to work on spreading personalized medicine and best practices to more health care providers. Soon-Shiong made much of his $7.3 billion fortune from selling two pharmaceutical companies, and hasĀ been working on numerous ventures to speed up information sharing electronically and put more data at the fingertips of doctors in the field.
