EC2 I/O Performance Broken Down and Stranger Than Expected

October 18, 2012 | Scalyr Blog breaks down Amazon's EC2 I/O performance. "Most published data is specific to a particular application or EC2 configuration, or was collected from a small number of instances and hence is statistically suspect," they state. So they collected data from over 1,000 EC2 instances, $1,000 in AWS charges and billions of I/O operations. The results were stranger than they expected. Scalyr Blog
