Stem Cell Author Found Guilty of Scientific Misconduct

April 2, 2014

April 2, 2014 | A Japanese scientific committee yesterday found that the lead author of the acid-induced stem cell paper published in Nature is guilty of scientific misconduct. The researcher denies the fraud, claiming that all errors were made innocently. NPR  But the same day that the committee's findings were reported, a Hong Kong developmental biologist reported that he had induced pluripotency with an updated protocol that depended on physical stress to the cell membranes. In his ResearchGate posting presenting his findings, the researcher said, "I am not claiming that "STAP" cells exsist  - only presenting the results of our research as it is - which is open to interpretation. Please, don't Hype up this data! [stet]" Nature News
