Illumina, Friends Launch Helix: Digital Hub for Genetic Information

August 18, 2015 | Helix--a new genomics analytics venture--is to launch today with $100 million in funding from Illumina, Warburg Pincus, and Sutter Hill Ventures. Illumina's Jay Flatley will serve as chairman. Helix's goal is to make it easier for third parties to sequence customers' genes, and then provide a range of analytical tools. One of Helix's first public partners--Mayo Clinic's Center for Individualized Medicine--plans to cretae apps for consumer education. “We are thrilled to partner with Illumina to transform how consumers interact with their own DNA,” Noah Knauf, a managing director at Warburg Pincus, said in a statement.
