PhenoTips Receives the Life Sciences Innovation Fund: The Ontario-based life sciences company was awarded $500,000 by the Ontario Centre of Innovation to support growth in the precision medicine marketplace

Toronto, Canada, 2 September 2025 – PhenoTips, based in Toronto, has developed a first-of-its-kind cloud-based software that streamlines and digitizes genomic health record management, saving clinicians time and supporting precision medicine initiatives. In June 2025, PhenoTips was one of 13 Ontario-based life sciences companies to receive the renewed Life Sciences Innovation Fund from the government of Ontario, through the Ontario Centre of Innovation (OCI).

“Ontario’s life sciences sector is a key driver of our province’s economy, which is why our government is making strategic investments to ensure more medical breakthroughs are discovered and developed right here, at home,” said Vic Fedeli, Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade. “By renewing the Life Sciences Innovation Fund, we are taking decisive action to build a more resilient and self-reliant economy, focused on protecting Ontario workers, businesses and good-paying jobs.”

PhenoTips is the producer of the future-forward Genomic Heath Record (GHR), a cloud-hosted and EHR-integrated software platform that enables precision medicine by unifying patient information, improving data accuracy, introducing consistency, and facilitating borderless collaboration. As the precision medicine market expands, PhenoTips’ GHR is poised to meet the demands of hospitals and health systems harnessing genomic medicine to elevate patient care.

“We are thrilled to receive this investment from the Life Sciences Innovation Fund,” said PhenoTips Co-Founder and CEO Dr. Orion Buske. “PhenoTips spun out of research here in Ontario and has gone on to have a global impact and support leading health systems across Canada, the UK, and around the world. This investment from OCI and the Government of Ontario has already unlocked over $1 million in private co-investment and will accelerate our growth, create high-quality Ontario jobs, and help us stay at the cutting edge of genomic medicine.”

PhenoTips received $500,000 from Ontario’s Life Science Innovation Fund, through the government of Ontario.

This investment was also matched by Ontario’s Life Sciences Innovation Fund (LSIF), led by the Ontario Centre of Innovation (OCI) in the amount of $500,000 providing support as the company expands.

“The Ontario Centre of Innovation is proud to support PhenoTips  through Ontario’s Life Sciences Innovation Fund (LSIF),” says Claudia Krywiak, President and CEO of the Ontario Centre of Innovation. “This renewed investment in Ontario’s LSIF empowers home-grown companies like PhenoTips to bring health breakthroughs to market, create jobs, and cement our global leadership in life sciences.”
