September 17, 2023

BARNARD, VT – September 18, 2023Ann Graham, Founder and Executive Director of MIB Agents, a leading pediatric osteosarcoma nonprofit dedicated to making it better for its community of patients, caregivers, doctors, and researchers, has officially joined the National Comprehensive Cancer Network® (NCCN®) Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology (NCCN Guidelines®) Panel for Bone Cancer, in the role of patient advocate.

“I am honored to have been invited to serve as patient advocate for the NCCN Guidelines® Panel for Bone Cancer. As a survivor of osteosarcoma, I understand firsthand how overwhelming a bone cancer diagnosis can be and the challenges that patients and their families can face as part of the cancer care and treatment process,” said Ann Graham. “In my role with NCCN, I hope to share my experience not only as a former patient, but also as someone that has dedicated my life to fostering partnerships between the patients, the medical community and researchers to ensure the patients have a voice in their care.”

NCCN patient advocates represent the voice of the patient in the development of NCCN Guidelines recommendations to improve and advance cancer care. The goal is to provide a representative patient perspective in crafting the guideline recommendations. Patient advocates are also actively involved in the development of NCCN Patient Information and Resources, including the NCCN Guidelines for Patients®, derived from the clinical NCCN Guidelines, in order to help patients, their families, and their caregivers navigate the cancer landscape.

“NCCN is grateful and honored to have Ann Graham join the NCCN Guidelines Panel for Bone Cancer as the patient advocate representative,” said Wui-Jin Koh, MD, NCCN Chief Medical Officer. “Her personal experience, as well as knowledge, insights, courage, and dedication to patient advocacy and support provide a unique perspective that is critical to the development and updates of our guidelines. Her involvement will make sure that the patient voice is heard and remains central to all recommendations and decision making.”
